Anyone who knows anything about boxing will tell you that balance is crucial. Good connection with the floor and steadiness are the bedrock of proper technique. So yes, a broken toe is going to bugger things up a bit, if you happen to be boxing in the biggest heavyweight fight of the year.
Going into this bout, I really wanted Haye to win (I thought Klitschko would clinch it though, hence my reluctance to put my moola where my mouth was). His instinct to blame his injury immediately after losing, shocked me a little and smacked of poor sportsmanship. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, in fact I'd quite happily have his babies (I'm a sucker for the guns, what can I say?!). I just wanted more from someone I respect as much as him. Haye's since acknowledged that Wladimir was just the better boxer, but he kind of has to say that really, since it's the truth.
It was quite clear to me during the fight what Klitschko's game plan was and I expected to see a clear plan of attack from Haye too, what with all the talk of the new tricks that he'd been working on. Sadly, I couldn't work out what his intentions were. For me, he was leaping in and missing shots all over the show. At one point in the 11th Klitschko even shook his head in frustration, since Haye clearly had not brought his A game into the ring. His jerky movements may have been an attempt to compensate for the lack of steadiness caused by his foot, but they ultimately served to make Klitschko look like the more solid fighter and in so doing, David was beating to Wlad's drum.
Haye could've reclaimed some dignity had he given Klitschko his dues when the decision was announced. The last battle is now that of the rematch that David is desperate for. I think that Dr Steelhammer is going to win that too. His job has been done, he's proved his point and has absolutely no reason to set foot in the ring with Haye again.

I think Klitschko's reach was keeping Haye off-balance (toe be damned) and in leaning so far forward to connect with a punch you're never going to be able to stay stationary.
I think Klitschko should fight Audley. At least we'd get to see a knock-out.
