The Olympic Spirit

So it all kicks off this Friday!  I know it's not cool to be a Londoner and to get excited about the Games - after all it's screwing with our travel, we've had to foot the bill, it's going to rain etc - but I could not be more freaking excited if I tried.  At the very least, it's doing wonders for filling the Premier League shaped hole in my life right now.

Everyday for the next month (obviously going to be watching the Paras too) I'll be glued to a little multi-screen set-up that I've created with a buddy of mine.  I don't want to close my eyes, I don't want to fall asleep... I don't want to miss a thing.

Thinking back, Barcelona is the first Olympics I can really remember and probably my favourite one thus far, simply since it was host to one of the most moving events in sporting history.  I'd defy anyone not to be a little bit awe-stricken by the sight of Derek Redmond's Dad carrying him over the finish line.  It's as inspirational now as it was then...

Who knows what wonderful achievements we'll witness over the coming weeks.  Whatever they are, London 2012, I'm ready for ya!
