Nothing dreamy about this team, my friend...

I have not had a fantasy football team since I was at school, I maintain that there are two good reasons for this.  Firstly, upon leaving secondary school (well, all right, before leaving secondary school), I discovered alcohol and boys.  Now, I can categorically confirm that these two activities alone are far more time consuming than one might think.  Secondly, and more to the point, I feared that having a dream team would affect my hopes/superstitions/opinions on what went on daily in the league.

I was right.

This season I was invited to join 3 leagues on fanstasy.premierleague.com.  Stupidly I went ahead and set up my (awesome) team and began actually looking forward to what lay in store.  This was short lived.  For lo and behold, last night, I, a devout Liverpool supporter, found myself actually willing Van Der Vaart to do something, anything, spectacular.  What the f@*K?!

On what planet would I ever normally want him to do anything other than fall over repeatedly and lose control of his limbs and/or senses?  I've got enough to worry about as a 'Pool fan without getting concerned over Cole (you're literally only getting points for showing up), Jagielka (oh, so that's why I could afford you) and Silva (okay, so you're actually doing pretty well).  Why did I ever get involved in this madness?

Part of me is tempted to pack it in altogether and just enjoy the mediocrity that comes with following Liverpool these days (okay, so that's a total lie and I still think we're gonna win the league! Ssshhh).  But I can't.  I've started it, so I must see it through.  So far, I'm actually not doing too badly.  I expect there's one league that I may not fair so well in, but I'm getting on all right in the other two.

I'll tell you one thing for nothing though, I'm not entering a team ever again.  Well.  Probably.
