Pinch me, for this is too good to be true.
Did I dream that? I've waited up to watch all the highlights shows, so I'm pretty sure that Liverpool beat Manchester United (3-1!) and also that England managed to turn around a result against South Africa in the ODI! Amazing. Throw in some brunch with cocktails (#Drunch) and that's basically the sweetest Sunday I've had in a long while.
A force to be reckoned with.
He's only gone and done it. King Kenny has managed in two months what we've struggled to achieve for two seasons - we now have an attacking set up that doesn't depend solely on one man. Gorgeous. Today was demonstrative of a well organised, passionate team, who for once were not severely lacking in any areas. We looked well put together, aggressive, solid. We looked like a top four club.
I'm pleased as punch that Kuyt scored a hat-trick. Talk about being in the right place at the right time eh? Those goals are proof that you can't lose focus for a second. Suarez fed him that ball so quickly!
Dirk's work ethic (I like to think that we're on a first name basis) is increasingly commented upon, which I love, since it can only be a positive influence on our other players. Let's hope it's contagious. On a side note, I was very amused to hear Scouse-ish notes creeping into Kuyt's voice in the post match interview. Dutch/Scouse - that's just comedy right there.
I'm loving pretty much everything that Super Suarez does these days too. He cut through United's defence like it was, erm, butter, and he was an, um, knife. Analogies clearly not my strong point. Regardless, there's something lovely about him being the number 7 in a bid to save the day. I love it when a plan comes together.
The match got a bit panto-ish at one point, with Nani rolling on the floor wailing and a lot of other shoving going on too. I guess that's to be expected with a game like this. It never ceases to make the players involved look fecking stupid though.
I found it interesting to note the lack of post match interviews given by Ferguson and/or Phelan - very poor form. Then again, I suppose if you're only going to slag off the ref then there's not much point...
In summary, we've given Arsenal a nice little helping hand, let's just hope they can get it together now. I'd hate to have to back Chelsea or City for the title. (Although it would be quite funny to see City win). It's going to be an interesting few weeks, I look forward to it.
A quick word on the Cricket...
Against Ireland our bowling was a tad shoddy. Today, when we faced South Africa, our batting was pretty poor. Maybe in the next match we'll get it just right? Makes for bloody entertaining cricket though, doesn't it?! What a finish!
