Chelsea vs Utd
Before the match, I wasn't really sure what I wanted the result to be. If Chelsea lost, then we maybe, just maybe had a shot at getting a top four position. If Utd lost, well then Arsenal are closer to the top spot and Alex Ferguson doesn't get to over take our 18 League title wins ( I swear that's the main reason he's still hanging around). Having heard his reaction to the Ref's decisions, I have to say that I'm 100% glad that Chelsea won. In fact I hope they win the League and knock the wind out of Fergie's sails and the gum out of his mouth.
That said, we mustn't forget United's admirable stance when it comes to obeying the word of the Official. After the Rooney incident at the weekend, United's assistant manager Mike Phelan said "We can't dispute the referee's decision." He then clearly stipulated that "there should not be a witch hunt. The referee was consistent with all his decisions. We should lie low a little bit, and let the powers that be take [control of] the game." Not what you were saying yesterday boys. Funny that, don't you think? I highly doubt that Utd's hypocrisy is lost on anyone. I don't reckon that I'll hear Fergie complaining if Howard Webb refs again on Sunday.
Before I move on to the cricket, I'd just like to reiterate that the sale of Torres, though gutting at the time, was evidently the best sale our club's made in years. High five that one Kenny! Adios Fernando.
Can't catch this...
How have we lost the cricket?! I only caught the highlights, but it seemed to be seriously entertaining stuff, which involved Ireland whacking the ball all over the show. Even Simon Caney tweeted about how gripping it was, so that tells you something.
Our batsmen did a grand job of setting a hard task for Ireland, but O'Brien's record breaking batting proved too much. Not to mention our bowling was lacking somewhat. Damn. Not only did we lose, but the title of this blog is therefore irrelevant, since you can't really call the Irish lucky in this instance. Deserving would be a better word.
Thankfully they face India for their next match, so let's hope Sachin and the boys will see to it that the group doesn't stay so open. This is all getting quite exciting, isn't it?!
In other news...
Arsenal and Man City are still in the race for the FA Cup. Would've been brilliant if Orient had gotten through. Sigh.
Since this post has been massively rushed, I'll sign off with this cracking goal. The question is, did he mean it? Not likely.
